Job Title:          Manager, Pharmaceutical Development

Reports To:         VP, Pharmaceutical Development

Location:               Boston, MA

Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP, Pharmaceutical Development, the incumbent will be responsible for providing project management and operational oversight of CMC activities, and ensuring integration of CMC plans with global cross-functional project plans, for drug development projects from intial IND/IMPD filing through to NDA/MAA filing and launch. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage CMC development teams
  • Establish integrated CMC operational plans and oversee their execution
  • Ensure alignment of CMC operational plans with overall project plans
  • Facilitate the timely execution of project plans through proactive management of the operational interfaces between the CMC development team and other functions
  • Provide project management and operational oversight of routine vendor (CXO) services, including management of contracts, timelines, budgets and deliverables


  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, pharmaceutics or related discipline within pharmaceutical sciences; Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in drug development
  • Familiarity with US and EU cGMP requirements and best practices
  • Prior experience managing outsourced activities at international CMOs
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as demonstrated through prior work experience keeping key stakeholders and management informed of status, issues and recommended solutions
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to think intuitively and problem solve
  • Prior experience working in a fast pace, small, start-up environment
  • Prior roles requiring the management of multiple and shifting priorities
