First patients randomized in A3309 study to evaluate gastrointestinal transit

Albireo today announced that the first patients have been randomized in a study with A3309 in chronic idiopathic constipation.  Main objective of the study is to evaluate changes in intestinal transit. The study is conducted at the Mayo Clinics, US and the Principal Investigator is Dr Michael Camilleri. Further information on the study is available at www.clinicaltrial.gov

A3309 is a first in class compound developed for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation and constipation-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-C). A3309 inhibits the ileal bile acid transporter and the increased bile acid concentration in the colon stimulates secretion and motility.
