Dr Denise Pollard Knight

Denise Pollard-Knight, PhD, is Managing Director of Nomura Phase4 Ventures, an affiliate of Nomura International plc based in London.
Dr Pollard-Knight joined Nomura International in 1999 as Head of Private Equity and has over ten years experience as a venture capitalist.  Prior to joining Nomura, Dr Pollard-Knight was an investment manager in the Bioscience Unit of Rothschild Asset Management from January 1997 to January 1999, a group managing over $500 million in private and public biotechnology companies. 
 
At Phase4 Ventures she is responsible for leading the team and investment strategy. She is also actively involved in US and European investments, especially spin-outs.
 
Dr Pollard-Knight held several research and development management positions at Amersham-Pharmacia and Fisons plc.  Dr Pollard-Knight holds a PhD and BSc (Hons) from Birmingham University and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley.
 
Dr Pollard-Knight currently serves on the boards of Cerimon, Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Nabriva Therapeutics and Develogen AG and was previously a Director on the board of Viacell and an observer on the board of Ark Therapeutics.  Dr Pollard-Knight is currently a Trustee and a Council Member of the British Heart Foundation serving on the Executive Committee.  She holds a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors.  Dr Pollard-Knight is a Director of Nomura Phase4 Ventures Ltd and a member of the Investment Committee.
